Resin Classes

Oakfield Clear is delighted to be able to offer resin classes! These classes are suitable for complete beginners who have never used epoxy before, all the way up to seasonal professionals who just want to learn a new skill or brush up on the basics. 

The classes are held by Carmen Hofman, owner and founder of Oakfield Clear. Carmen started her own resin journey when covid hit in 2020. It quickly grew into a thriving small business. Carmen has made epoxy river tables for 'The Block', been featured on numerous tv shows, and has won many awards such as the national title 'Ausmumpreneur Homewares Business of the Year'.. twice! You will be learning from a resin artist that not only uses resin, but creates her own. Working with our Melbourne based chemist, Oakfield Clear has created resins that are very innovative and exclusive to us. ResinNext is the only casting and coating resin in Australia that will never yellow, and BotaniClear is Australia's first epoxy specifically designed for clear pours and flower preservations.

These classes will focus on creating ocean waves and cells. 

In the class you will learn:

  • The principles of how epoxy works including cure times, hardness, temperature resistance and chemical resistance
  • The safety of epoxy
  • How to correctly mix your epoxy, and tools needed to do so
  • How to use colourants, pour and create ocean waves and cells
  • How to clean and take care of your pieces

You will create your very own grazing board and matching coaster to take home. We create the coaster first, to ensure you get the technique right before attempting the larger piece. 

We strongly suggest to have a look at the pigment pastes available on our website, so you can choose what colours you would like to use. Perhaps you want to match the decor of your home, have a favourite colour you just adore, or will just wing it on the day! 

We will provide:

  • Part A and Part B of our brand new epoxy 'Super Coat'. 250ml kit
  • 1 x large Acacia wooden grazing board (approx. 42cm x 18cm) and 1 x matching coaster
  • Mixing Cups
  • Nitrile Gloves
  • Stirring sticks
  • Pigment Pastes
  • Heat Guns
  • Aprons
  • Disposable Masks
  • Whatever resin is left over from the class is yours to keep! So you can continue to create at home.

If you require a respirator mask, please bring it with you. All Oakfield Clear resins are VOC free, so are safe to use. However, some folks can be allergic to epoxy

The cost of the class is $139 per person. It is restricted to adults over the age of 18, however if you have an older child who is mature enough to follow directions when using a corrosive product, please reach out to Carmen and discuss the suitability. We love to encourage budding young resin artists.
